Coco and Penny are in Elroy (between Phoenix and Tucson) Coco and Penny need  a new family (or families) before the end of September. Our story in our words:  We were found by our Dad living in a hole under a thorn bush in a landfill dodging big, scary machines. Dad took us home where we were scared about what would happen. He fed us gave us clean water to drink and a quiet place to rest.  We slowly settled into a comfortable safe routine. We learned not to gobble our food as we learned there would be food and water tomorrow.  We were taken to the doctor to get our shots so we would be healthy, but it was still scary. We followed dad around and stay close to him when he worked even though sometimes, we got loud when we played.  Then Dad had to go the hospital to make sure his surgery was doing well and then the day he was supposed to come home he got sick and he died the next day.  His friend took care of us because dad was having trouble moving around on his new knees but now his friend has to move and the new place can't fit us in so now, we need to find a new home and a new Dad or Mom. We would do well in a home where (if possible) we are the only ones there and with family who are experienced and patient enough to help us past are traumas from created from surviving at the landfill. Coco's story: Coco is very shy and sensitive to loud noises or unexpected sounds. He is calm at home, but curious around new visitors. He will come out and walk close enough to get a pet before zooming away only to return a few minutes later to repeat the entire process. He has not been trained on a leash or crate. It is unknown how he reacts to cats, other dogs or children as he has not been exposed to them. He has a fear response to dogs that bark or growl at him on the one time he was taken on a leash in the neighborhood. He does not show food aggression other than wanting to eat his sister's food first then his own. Coco and his sister need a new home as their dad passed away suddenly and their current caretaker cannot stay and cannot take them with him. He is housebroken and as long as he has access to the yard prefers to do his business outside. There are no medical issues that require ongoing care or medications. He is a low to moderate energy companion; his late dad had two knee replacements so was not very active. He and his sister, Penny play with each other chasing each other around the yard before coming inside and finding a place to lay down and nap. He does have toys that he plays with and will chase even if he can be a bit clumsy.   THE ADOPTION FEE FOR DOGS/PUPPIES VARIES GIVEN AGE, BREED, ETC..  All have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Our ADOPTION FEE for DOGS/PUPPIES starts at $200. OUR ADOPTION FEE FOR OUR CATS STARTS AT $100.00.  All have been spayed/neutered, FIV/leukemia tested, vaccinated and microchipped.September 9, 2026, 11:24 pm
