QUICK FACTS Name: Minam Age: 4 years old Gender: Male (Neutered) Breed: Jindo Chihuahua mix Color: Cream Weight:  8kg / 17.6lbs Microchipped, Fully Vaccinated Up to Date, Dewormed   MY RESCUE STORY My previous owner was an elderly man who lived alone and relied on government assistance. He was our family and the only home we had ever known. Sadly, he passed away after struggling with a chronic illness, and just like that, we suddenly lost both our person and our home. For a long time, we had been living in difficult conditions without even proper ventilation. After our owner passed away, there was no one left to care for us, and eventually we were brought to the shelter. Everything we knew changed so suddenly, and we couldn’t understand why our familiar person and home were gone. Despite everything we’ve been through, we’ve now been given the chance to start over. We’re ready to leave those difficult days behind and find loving forever families where we can finally experience the comfort, stability, and care every dog deserves. All we’re missing now is a safe place to call home again.   MY HEALTH All vaccinations up-to-date Healthy with no known health issues Some of my front teeth are missing but I have no issues eating and living my normal life   MY PERSONALITY Despite not having much socialization in my past, I open up surprisingly quickly. Tasty treats are definitely the way to my heart and make it much easier for me to feel comfortable around new people. I’m also even smaller and cuter in person! During my profile photoshoot, it didn’t take long before I was happily following the volunteers and staff around, hoping they might have another treat waiting for me. I have so much potential and am eager to learn. With patience, positive experiences, and plenty of encouragement, I’m ready to continue building my confidence and discovering just how wonderful life with a loving family can be.   MY SOCIAL SKILLS · With People: I can be a little shy when we first meet, but it doesn’t take me long to warm up. During my profile photoshoot, it only took about 30 minutes before I felt completely comfortable and was happily leaning in for pets and snuggles. I’m comfortable being picked up once I trust you, but sudden movements or unexpected pickups can startle me and make me want to run away. A gentle approach and a little bonding time first will help me feel safe and secure. Once I’m comfortable, I love being close to my people. If you’re sitting down, don’t be surprised if I come over and climb right into your lap for some extra cuddles and affection. Give me a little patience, a few treats, and some gentle affection, and you’ll quickly see just how sweet and cuddly I can be. · With Dogs: I enjoy greeting new dogs, but I don’t usually jump straight into play. I prefer taking things at my own pace and am often happy doing my own thing. I generally get along best with dogs who have a similar size and energy level and respect my space. I’m especially close to my sibling, Misong, since we’ve spent our whole lives together. I depend on Misong quite a bit for comfort and reassurance, especially when I’m feeling unsure. Having my sibling nearby helps me feel safe and gives me confidence as I adjust to new situations. · With Cats: My reaction to cats is unknown.   ENERGY LEVEL & ACTIVITY I have a moderate energy level. I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring, and having fun, but once I’ve had my activity and excitement, I’m more than happy to come inside and relax comfortably indoors.   TRAINING & HABITS I’m still working on perfecting my leash manners and may pull at times, but overall I follow my handler’s lead nicely. I also have great manners around food and don’t guard my meals or treats from either people or other dogs. I may bark occasionally, but I settle down quickly and know how to rest calmly in my kennel. I can even jump in and out of the car all by myself. Don’t underestimate these short little legs! For potty habits, I currently go both indoors using pee pads and outdoors. With a consistent routine in my forever home, I should continue adjusting nicely.   MY IDEAL HOME I’m searching for a patient, loving family who can help me become the best version of myself. I’ll thrive in a home with: • A family that will provide me with a safe haven – where I can decompress, be myself in a stable environment • A family that understands my past and is patient with me throughout • A family that enjoys indoor and outdoor time together • A family that will love and cherish me forever • Ideally, an environment where both me and my sibling Misong can be adopted together – but not an absolute requirement   SPECIAL NOTES My name means “handsome boy” in Korean, and I’d say it suits me pretty well! I may be small, but don’t let my size fool you. I’m a sturdy little guy with strong, short legs and plenty of personality packed into my compact body. Those little legs are more capable than they look too. I can even hop in and out of the car all by myself! I’m proof that you don’t need to be big to be mighty. More than anything, I can’t wait to bond with my forever family. I may need a little time to warm up at first, but it doesn’t take me long to start seeking out affection, snuggles, and a cozy lap to curl up on.
