My story

Kayla was born in a remote Northern Manitoba community where she spent most of her life outdoors with her mom and siblings. The family caring for Kayla and the rest of her siblings realized they could no longer provide for everyone and made the difficult decision to surrender them to rescue. They are now being given the chance to find the safe, loving homes they deserve. Kayla is a gentle, quiet girl who gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She is understandably shy around people, having spent most of her life interacting with other dogs rather than receiving attention from humans. She is especially cautious around men, and she is also shy with children despite living around children between 8 and 10 years old. She does not have an aggressive bone in her body - she simply needs time, patience and the opportunity to learn that people can be kind and that she is safe. Kayla has never had the chance to learn many of the things we often take for granted. She isn't leash or crate trained and will need some work with house training as she has spent very little time indoors. This sweet girl is extremely treat motivated, which will be a wonderful help as she learns her new skills. A confident, friendly dog in her forever home would also be ideal, as she is very comfortable around dogs and could gain confidence by watching her canine companion interact positively with people. Kayla needs someone who will give her time to trust, settle in and discover the love she has been missing. Beneath that shy exterior is a very sweet girl with much love waiting to be given. With patience, kindness and a little time, she has the potential to blossom into the wonderful companion she was always meant to be.
