My story

Note: Ina is currently in Korea, but she will arrive in Toronto on Oct 27 once adopted. For more info about Ina or the adoption application. Please click here.Adopt Ina, the Calm Great Pyrenees Who Sticks Her Tongue Out When She ConcentratesIna is a big, calm sweetheart who walks straight up to every new person she meets and asks to be petted. When she’s focused on something, the tip of her tongue pokes out without her noticing.Quick FactsBreed: Great Pyrenees · Sex: Female · Born: September 2022 · Weight: 34 kg · Location: Korea · Traits: Calm, affectionate, easygoing · Health: Spayed, vaccinatedBackgroundIna was rescued on May 1, 2026, after being left behind at an abandoned café in Paju, Korea. Even then, she was happy to see people. Since her rescue, she has been staying at our partner shelter in Korea. Over the summer of 2026 she slimmed down to a lighter, healthier weight, and that gave her more energy. She moves around more, plays more, and has become even more social and cheerful than when she first arrived.PersonalityIna is a calm love bug. When someone comes into her kennel in the morning, she greets them with happy little jumps. She isn’t shy with strangers and gets along with both men and women. She’ll let you pet her for as long as you like, and there’s no spot on her body she minds being touched. Her favourite things are treats, walks, and playing in the yard. Her energy level is on the lower side of moderate, and when she’s on her own, she simply naps.CompatibilityIna has met children before and stayed calm and relaxed around them. If she is adopted by a family with children, parents should always supervise interactions to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort. It is important that parents take full responsibility for teaching both their children and their dog how to interact appropriately.Ina does well with calm dogs. She enjoys running around with them or just lying close by. She doesn’t like loud, overexcited dogs with no manners, so she would be happiest as an only dog or with a calm companion. She doesn’t guard her food or toys.Ina hasn’t lived with cats before, so we can’t say for certain how she’d do. Knowing her easygoing nature, though, we think it’s possible with a slow, gradual introduction, plenty of patience, and enough space for each of them to have their own retreat while they get used to one another.Behaviours & TrainingIna can go to the bathroom indoors on a pad or outdoors. She walks well on a leash and harness. On walks, she doesn’t react much to other dogs, cars, or motorcycles. She is well behaved at the vet and good at bath time. She doesn’t love having her nails trimmed, but she lets it happen, and she is fine with brushing. She doesn’t chew things she shouldn’t and barely barks. She knows her name and “sit.” She shows no signs of separation anxiety and just rests when left alone. She does drool during car rides, so a towel on the seat is a good idea.Health & DietIna is spayed, dewormed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. She takes monthly parasite preventatives. She has no known allergies and no history of additional surgeries or treatments. Her teeth are clean and in good condition, and a dental scaling is scheduled. She has passed the veterinary screening and is healthy and ready for a forever home. She eats kibble twice a day and has not shown any food allergies or sensitivities so far. She isn’t a big eater and tends to eat less when it’s hot, which is common for a thick-coated breed like hers.Ideal HomeIna is a gentle loving dog who is easy to live with. A first-time adopter would do well with her, as long as they’re ready for a large breed. She would love a home with a yard and would be happiest as an only dog or with a calm dog companion. The main thing she needs to settle in is plenty of walks.Ina is a gentle, affectionate girl who’s ready to lie at your feet and follow you around the yard. If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion, Ina is waiting to meet you.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ina, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
