My story

Macie Bird, formerly known as Birdie, is a young, intelligent dog with a quirky charm all her own. She has a minor congenital defect on her front paw—she’s missing a few toes—which gives her a funny, endearing look that resembles a permanent “flipping the bird.” It doesn’t slow her down or cause her pain; if anything, it adds to her character. Macie was adopted as a puppy but was recently returned by a family who felt they couldn’t give her the time and attention she deserved. They called her Macie, though she doesn’t seem particularly attached to the name—what she responds to best is a kind voice and clear communication. She’s incredibly smart, observant, and eager to please. Macie thrives on structure and connection, looking to her people for cues and reassurance. With the right person or family, she’s the kind of dog who will quickly bond and try her best to fit in.
