My story

Formal Name: Palisades Goes by: Sadie Nicknames: Sades, Pretty Lady, Sadie Baby, Big Bertha Breed: Mastiff Mix Age: ~ 9 Years Sex: Female Weight: 95 lbs. Before OMD: Found as a stray, completed her mandatory hold at animal control and quickly became a shelter favorite. Pre-Rescue Medical: Overweight. Entropion. Arthritis. Current Medical: Still on her weight loss journey with a couple more pounds to go. We took care of her entropion surgeries for both eyes and no additional care is needed. She can be a little stiff in her hind end but we have her on supplements and she loves her walks! Staying slim and trim will only help her arthritis. How she stole our hearts: Her hip switch. Her nub wiggle. How she smiled and leaned into the bars of her cage until we stopped to pet her. Animal Doppelgängers: Land manatee (for obvious reasons), bunny (when she hops), polar bear (when she rolls / dives / submerges herself in the snow), lap dog (when she sits on you). Hairstyle Persona: Mullet. Business in the front (don't let that sometimes serious mug fool you) and a booty wiggling party in the back. Energy Level: Lower with playful moments. Affection Level: High. Velcro Level: Balanced. She likes to know where you are but she doesn't need to be with you at all times. Guard Dog: Fail. Her goal is to meet everyone she can and then invite them over for dinner. What we love most: She is quick to trust. She offers anyone and everyone a nub wiggle. #yesweareobsessedwithhernub She's a leaner and has no problem throwing all of her 95 lbs. into you for pets. When you hug her, she hugs back. Her smile. What she loves most: Cuddling...preferably right ON a lap. Throwing her toys in the air so she can catch them. Butt and neck scratchies. Food. Strolls in the neighborhood coupled with people watching. Throwing herself into the snow. Rolling in the grass when snow isn't available. Laying in the kitchen while her humans cook. Party Trick: Pulling blankets off the couch and making herself a bed on the floor. Kids: Older kiddos only. She's met littles and done well but she is completely unaware of her size. Dogs: Tested well with larger males and did well though she proved she loves a good booty bump. We think she would thrive being the only dog in the home but she could easily share her space with another laid back, older, big guy. Definitely no small pups. Her exuberant greetings and sea lion vocalizations can be a little overwhelming. Cats: Nope, way too interesting and look way too much like toys. Housebroken: Yep! Crate Trained: She's more of a gated area type girl. She likes to rearrange her beds and blankets and then do a lot of snoozing when left alone. Palisades is spayed, vaccinated, heart worm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you’re interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Palisades, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
