My story

NOTE: DALLAS IS AVAILABLE FROM HIS PERSON JESSICA TORRES (SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW). GSRSV IS LISTING HIM ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HIM MORE EXPOSURE FOR ADOPTION. GSRSV HAS NOT MET DALLAS. “Dallas” is a handsome, 63-lb, nearly 4-yo (born April 2017) neutered male GSD who is playful, easy-going and inquisitive. He is up to date on his vaccinations and is in good health. Dallas is friendly with strangers but alarm-barks appropriately. Once visitors are inside the house, he’s fine with thems. Dallas has not been around really young children since he was adopted 3½ yrs ago. Dallas is great with nearly all other dogs including very small dogs like Chihuahuas. He’s always done well at dog parks. The only dog that Dallas has NOT got along with is the neutered male German Shorthaired Pointer/Lab he lives with (more on that later). Because he’s had a rivalry w/ another male dog, we are seeking a home for Dallas with ONLY FEMALE DOGS OR NO OTHER DOGS. Dallas has not lived with cats so for safety’s sake, we prefer a home WITHOUT CATS for him. Dallas is housetrained and has received basic obedience training. His person (Jessica) keeps him outside or in his crate when she is gone for extended periods of time. He sleeps in the hallway just outside her bedroom. Dallas walks well on leash and is non-reactive towards other dogs. His recall off-leash is pretty good. Dallas gets nervous riding in the car, pacing back & forth. [Note from GSRSV: Dallas used to be OK in the car, but once he developed his nervousness Jessica stopped taking him in the car as much as possible. It’s likely that with positive reinforcement and “baby steps”, Dallas’ aversion to riding in the car can be overcome.] Dallas loves to play with stuffed toys (his “babies”). He also loves water and swimming. Jessica adopted Dallas from a friend when he was about six months old. They later brought in their male German Shorthaired Pointer/Lab, who Dallas never took to very well. Though the dogs do coexist OK for the most part and do play together, there are often growling matches that make Jessica fear they will lead to a full-on fight. Since Dallas appears to be the aggressor [is this true?], she is seeking a new home for him. Dallas is located in Antioch. His adoption fee is $100, per GSRSV’s policy. Please contact Jessica Torres at either 408-628-3739 or jtorres3348@yahoo.com.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dallas, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
