My story

***ADOPTION PENDING*** PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION MEET KRICKET! This little miss is a cream/gold, 17 lb, 3 yr old, female Lhasa Apso who definitely has a story to tell. In her original home, we believe she was used as a breeder šŸ™ She somehow escaped and was being chased down in Long Beach where she ran directly into the ocean!! Everyone thought she was a goner…but she swam out 50 yards in 60 degree water and fortunately, the lifeguard was called and went out to find Kricket clinging to a buoy!! Kricket was taken to the Long Beach Shelter and adopted…but she didn’t get along with the Maltese in the home, so we were called and immediately took her! What an angel! She is intimidated by people at first, especially men, but she settles down pretty quickly. Men, she needs to get to know better!! On walks, she can a bit reactive and sometimes go after people running or skateboards/bikes. You’ll need to be vigilant with her. She loves to interact with other dogs but on her terms. We’ve gone back and forth, but we are confident that Kricket would be best as the only dog. She definitely wants to be the boss and is protective when her people are around. SO she will be placed as an only dog. Please don’t hate us for going back and forth…we’re just doing our best to do what is right for her. She also doesn’t like being left behind so please be around a lot! Kricket is pretty quiet until she feels the need to ā€œjoin in the choir.ā€ She is better with small dogs than large, and she really only wants to say hello to everyone. She is not trusting on the street and is protective, but her teeth never come into the picture!! She is not aggressive, just a bit fearful. She loves her walks…but we can’t guarantee 100% potty trained. Kricket would do best in a home with a yard but also good on walks and does her business quickly. Kids over 10 yrs old would be good. After she knows you, she loves to shower you with kisses, is uber affectionate (likes to roll on your feet like a cat) and lets you know you are her person! We really won’t know the perfect home until we meet it so please be patient! We love her!!! Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID If you are interested in adopting a pup from Lhasa Happy Homes, please complete the Adoption Application before calling. We will contact you once it has been reviewed. Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Our event is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring pictures or video of your home and yard if we have not done a home check (preferred)! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting! Don't forget to check out our Events Calendar for more information on upcoming events! See our home page for more details about our adoptions at Lhasa Happy Homes Thanks for thinking rescue and adoption and for considering saving a life. It will be the best gift you ever give yourself or your family.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt KRICKET, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
