My story

There's nothing quite like puppy sweetness and silliness...and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath. These super-smart and very loving and loyal young babies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless in the terrifying streets or euthanized due to lack of space in a high-kill shelter. Connor, at just about 8 weeks old and a tiny 8 lbs (anticipated to reach a full-grown weight of approximately 40 lbs) is just naturally a lover (once comfortable in his situation). Connor is a stunning Australian Shepherd / Shetland Sheepdog mix (as identified by a Texas veterinarian although we can't swear to it)..all we know is that this little guy is absolutely irresistible. Connor has all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular breed mixes for families as well as best friends for individuals. Connor is starting out with great energy. Now at 8 weeks old, he's blossoming into an adorable and fun- loving ball of love and sweetness. Connor is also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous golden coat laced with black and silver streaks throughout. Connor is a very healthy and fun-loving puppy who will love his family with all his heart. This social pup would also enjoy another gentle and fun dog to play with, and then to lie in the sunshine together enjoying a beautiful day. Connor is a perfect candidate for a life in Colorado! He will have so much fun exploring and taking long hikes along the Colorado trails. He's always open to new activities with a never-ending positive attitude. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Connor in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A positive reinforcement/force free puppy training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a little guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Farfel's feels so strongly about a training opportunity for every dog that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't choose to make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement/force-free trainers in your area. Connor's forever family will need to make a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement is a perfect lifelong protocol for general longevity and hair care) to keep this scruffy pup's coat super-healthy, matt-free and as soft as cotton. Connor is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's also so loving and cuddly. This snuggly little guy would be very excited to be a couch or bed dog and to snuggle with his favorite people at the end of an active day. Even at just 8 weeks old, it's clear that this puppy is SO smart and very engaging and social - very typical of the Herding Dog personalities. Many would say this breed group is among the most intelligent and intuitive in the dog world. We're open to Connor finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a puppy that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Connor enjoys his relationships with all humans and dogs...we would prefer, however, to place him in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Connor will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. Extensive new research shows that Connor is far too young to be neutered at this time. When he's approximately 9 - 12 months old, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Connor's microchip and neuter if one of our rescue vets is used. Connor will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 1/26/2022. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet as can be, SO snuggly and super-loving puppy. An adoption application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Connor, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Connor, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
