My story

Kelso is an 1 year old Vizsla/Lab mix. He only weighs 47 pounds and is full grown. Kelso’s foster has let us know how great he has been to have. He is house trained, gentle and polite, kid friendly, and truly has so much love to offer! He truly thrives being in a home with another dog, so we would prefer that he goes to a home WITH another dog. Kelso does need to work on his leash reactivity. Leash reactivity is when a dog reacts by barking at/toward a given stimulus while on a leash. However, when that dog is not on a leash, it has no problems. Kelso LOVES other dogs and thrives with them. We've determined that because of Kelso's leash reactivity, he needs a house with a yard where he can play with his dog friend, and have a yard to run in rather than needing daily walks. Note from Kelso's foster family: "He’s the SWEETEST! So polite and gentle. Needs a bit of work walking on leash, but he doesn’t pull! Loves to be at your side and is not stingy with his kisses! So so so great with my 2 dogs, and great with kids! (No experience with any kids under 7 years). Fully house trained. Sleeps all through the night but sometimes snores like an old man! :)" We would love to see Kelso in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he’s appropriately playful and fun-loving and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. He would also fit in well with a family that works from a home-based office and loves to have a best companion to love up throughout the day. We feel that Kelso is too social a guy to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. Kelso is neutered, and this supports our work and hopes that one day dog overpopulation will become a thing of the past and therefore it will be unnecessary to euthanize a healthy dog. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy.
