My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. While Ginger is almost certainly purebred chow -- she has a purple tongue and sure looks like a chow bear -- she acts like a golden retriever. She is friendly, loves people, is good with some dogs (we have a video of her playing with a golden we'd be happy to send you, as we can't post it here), quiet, easygoing and loves belly and butt rubs.  She would do well as an only dog but would probably be OK with another dog if they got along. Shortly after we got her, she had entropion surgery to fix in-turned lower eyelids that were rubbing on her eyes. She also had femoral head ostectomy surgery to fix her hip dysplasia in both hips. She's now doing great. While it would be best for her to not overexert herself with a lot of running and jumping, she can engage in play with other dogs and people and go for walks. Unlike many chows, Ginger isn't very suspicious of people she doesn't know. She would make a great addition to a family with experience with dogs and, even better, experience with chows. She ideally needs a home with a fenced yard.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 12, 2025, 4:55 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ginger, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
