My story

CENSUS DEADLINE 5pm - Friday 5/23 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION OR FOSTERHarold is a big old blockheaded beefcake who would love to find a home with someone as equally athletic, energetic, and adventurous as he is! At just three years old he’s in his pooch prime- he has tons of stamina and will thrive with a family that will exercise his body and mind. Harold is also a smart fella who has been working with volunteers on clicker training and other skills:“I worked with Harold twice this week, both times finding a quiet, empty space so he could focus. He started learning the clicker sound with chicken and showed great potential. He was way more relaxed without any distractions. Very proud of him! The next day he did a couple of runs jumping on and off the brick podiums in the front of the shelter. I love to see a dog’s potential and Harold definitely has it! He just can’t show it in the stressful and noisy shelter environment.”Harold is a super special guy who is just not cut out for shelter life. No dog is, but the pups who are super smart, alert and driven struggle a bit more. That’s our Harold! Harold needs to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit and would love to leave the shelter with you today. Ask to meet him!Home Management Plan: 1) DOG INTRO HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: may be too much for some dogs; assertive/stiff greetings, doesn`t respect corrections (thinks they`re play) and only semi-steerable2) In Shelter Decline • Due to shelter stress, they been declining with leashing and handling • They will need time to decompress in a home and readjust to life outside of the shelter. • They may be overstimulated for the first few days after leaving the shelter. • They need a calm area they can be put away from people and other pets if needed while they acclimate.
