My story

Whiskey is TOP SHELF!!! This sweet, complex kid has been through more than his fair share of struggles. As a kitten, Whiskey beat the odds and survived a virus that’s often fatal and actually fractured both his hips. More recently, he suffered a fall that left him with nerve damage and reignited his old hip pain. He also has vestibular issues that affect his balance—so some days are harder than others. Whiskey has been adopted and returned more than once, through no fault of his own. He’s one of those cats who just hasn’t found his person yet—the one who sees him fully and loves him exactly as he is. And who is he? Whiskey is smooth like velvet and sweet as they come—but he’s also got a little kick. His early trauma left emotional wounds, and he’s developed very clear boundaries to protect himself. He can be overstimulated easily, and when he’s hurting or overwhelmed, he’ll let you know in no uncertain terms. He just needs a little space sometimes, and someone to be mindful enough to not crowd or over-handle him when he's not in the mood.  If you let him warm up at his own pace.
