My story

Hi there! My name is Ken, and I have quite the story to tell.   Breed: Shepherd MixAge: 3 yearsGender: Male    Weight: 59 lbHeight: 62 cmHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, rarely barks, no escape tendency, enjoys car rides I was rescued from a situation where I was mistreated and neglected, but now I'm ready to find a family who will give me the love and care I deserve. I'm a very friendly and outgoing dog. I absolutely love people and enjoy getting lots of pets and belly rubs. I'm not shy at all and will quickly warm up to new faces. In fact, I love cuddling up against people and showing my affection. I'm a big fan of being on the bed with my humans, too! When it comes to other dogs, I'm a real sweetheart. I've been introduced to a Jindo, a Border Collie, and a Pomeranian, and I was very gentle with them. I'm always excited to meet new furry friends and would love to have a doggy sibling to play with. However, I haven't had the chance to meet a cat yet, so I'm not sure how I would react. I have a moderate energy level and enjoy outdoor activities. I love going for walks and exploring new places. I'm great on a leash and will follow your lead. I'm not nervous in urban environments and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. Car rides are also a favorite of mine, and I'll happily jump into a crate for a drive. I don't get carsick at all! I'm a smart pup and already know some basic commands like sit, lie down, and wait for food. I haven't shown any signs of aggression and don't have any resource guarding issues. I'm also not prone to separation anxiety and rarely bark. You won't have to worry about me trying to escape either. While I haven't been fully housetrained yet, I'm a quick learner and have shown good behavior during my short time in a home. With a little guidance and patience, I'm sure I'll catch on quickly. I'm just a lovable dog looking for a family to call my own. If you're ready to give me the love and care I deserve, please consider adopting me. I promise to be a loyal and affectionate companion for life. Energy Level: Moderate - Enjoys outdoor activities I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown Fears: Unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Some. Please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home. With a little guidance and patience, I'm sure I'll catch on quickly. Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1907438##
