Missy

My story

Missy came to us from a local animal shelter partner who could not care for her medical issue. “I’m not sure she has a chance here…” they told us before bringing her to BCAR. She had been adopted from that previous shelter a year and a half before, then abandoned. A neighbor brought her back to the local shelter after seeing her wandering along the road, all alone. Her owner never came to reclaim her. Missy had gained a lot of weight. She was being treated at the previous shelter for hypothyroidism, weighed as much as 103 pounds, and could not walk 500 feet. Today she is 50 lbs. and loves to walk the nature trails while squeaking her toy. She is being regulated with medication for her condition daily. She is a joy, an inspiration and loves everyone she meets. She continues to improve and is beating the odds. Missy is very sweet with people but needs to be the only pet in the family and does not care for dog parks. Can you be her loving family? All BCAR dogs are placed as indoor family pets.
