My story

Meet Guero! 8 years old and blind, Guero was surrendered by his family to Harbor Shelter in Los Angeles which was at maximum capacity. Kennel workers saw how special Guero was and kept him in a shower stall to buy him some time until he could be adopted or rescued. Their plan worked! On January 25th, Guero became a Frosted Face. He is a perfect mid-sized boy at only 53 lbs. and is super sweet. Guero currently lives in a Foster home after being on several two-week Frosted Flings. At every stay, Guero has earned praise for being great with young children, house-trained, gentle, quiet, and trustworthy when home alone. Guero knows his name and responds with a wagging tail every time it it said! Although blind, he manages to learn his new surroundings quickly. We think Guero may have lived outside most his life. He LOVES it outside, he just wants to chill in the dirt and sleep. He doesn't make a sound; we have yet to hear him bark. He sits still and cooperates when he needs to have his eye drops in. Guero is a sweetheart that just wants someone to make him feel safe. In return, he will greet you with his entire body in a wag and quietly return to his bed. He will need a patient adopter who will help him through his fears and speak in a calm manner around him. He may take a little time to get comfortable with you, but once he does, he responds with tail wags and rolling over for belly rubs as seen in his video! His Foster Mom shares: "Guero an easy-peasy foster. He's never an accident in the house. He’s blind, but navigates the house and yard well. He loves people, kids, all other dogs, and even curious cats! Guero loves to go places, and loves car rides. His favorite thing is to do is go for a walk. It can be around the neighborhood or in the hills behind my house, doesn’t matter, he just loves walks. He knows the neighborhood route really well so he’s very good at stepping up and down curbs and avoiding most obstacles. He does get excited when we go on new routes though. He loves to sniff every new thing in his path. Sometimes to make the walk last longer Guero will just lay on the ground and refuse to go any further. Concerned onlookers think he’s tired, but no, with a smile on his face he will switch to his adorable army crawl and we’ll be on our way. Guero is very sweet and gives kisses to show appreciation. Guero would do well in a home with older kids who would love him for who he is. He’s been through a lot and deserves to spend the rest of his life being pampered by people who love him." All Guero needs now is a forever home! Might it be with you? If this gentle soul's story speaks to you, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to schedule a time to meet him.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Guero, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
