NICO - Paws Behind Bars Trained

My story

Nico is a Malinois / Mastiff mix that is 8 years of age and around 65 pounds. He is impeccably trained with obedience and commands such as sit, stay, come, place and elevated commands such as "finish," and "peak," along with some basic scent work. He is extremely loyal to his "bonded" person and needs a savvy owner to build that mutual respect. This brindle breed mix is very intelligent and although he has lived with another dog in the past, we recommend his ideal environment be a home where he is an only pet to relax in his retirement years. He is a great companion for walks, lounging in the sunshine in a fenced yard and fulfilling the couch potato roll. He is at the age where he appreciates quieter surroundings. He enjoys human contact with his people but he is not a "kid" dog. He does resource guard very special items and commotion confuses and scares him which is occurring in his current "prison" environment with loud steel doors, and other unfamiliar noises. He is a bit hesitant with faster movements and unfamiliar things like people wearing hoodies over their head, mechanical items he has not seen before. Nico was adopted out when younger but their life situation and financial crisis caused his return to the rescue where he has been now for a few years. We would love to see him live out retirement days with a person who gives him attention, comfort, the luxury items of a comfy dog bed and lounging time in the backyard sunshine!
