My story

HOLA! My name is RONALDO and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed:  Labrador mix Age:  Approx. 7 years old Gender:  Male Weight:  78 lbs (35 kg)  Height:  65 cm (paws to top of my head) Length:  84 cm (head to butt) Chest:  84 cm Neck:  44 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - My rescue story begins in Ixtapan de la Sal where I was found abandoned in a garbage dump when I was about 1 year old. Just thrown out with the trash, I can’t believe it either! It was just awful, and my condition was very poor (see rescue photos, and video), but I was scooped up at just the right time and transported to my now-home in Mexico City. When I was rescued my immune system was in desperate need of some TLC, and I had scabies! I was briefly hospitalized and received much-needed veterinary care. Now I’m all healed up (see healthier puppy video here), living at the shelter where I’ve been a resident for over FIVE years! TEMPERAMENT - Since my life started off a little rocky, I reallllly enjoy the finer things in life, like walks and TREATS! I’m known around the shelter as the “Cookie Monster” and love a good doggy biscuit. Well, I may have had one too many cookies because, as you can see in my photos, I’m a tad on the heavier side. My adopter will need to help me with a slow introduction to regular exercise and a nice healthy diet! Hehe! ENERGY LEVEL - Low to Medium - My favorite pastime is walking with hoomans! I adore the volunteers at the shelter and get super excited when I hear them arriving. I am playful, affectionate (check out this video), and a bit of a smarty-pants if I do say so myself! And while I love to walk and play, I’m a bit of a low-energy guy and equally enjoy laying low near my pals and hooman volunteers. It’s been a long wait at the shelter and I am SO ready to be adopted and have a forever-family of my very own!  GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. No known information on my interactions with kiddos.  Dogs –  You betcha! I live with many dogs at the shelter, I even have some best friends! We enjoy playing and sleeping near each other! Check out these videos of me and my pals at the dog park: here, here, and here Cats – Unknown. My rescuer says I’m friendly with kitties, but I don’t have any documented interactions just yet! PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Pretty good! I walk with several other doggos from the rescue, and my Rescuer says I’m calm on walks (like in this video!). I’ll likely need to polish up my skills once I’m adopted, and will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my manners! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and its adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates. ##2034552##
