My story

We promise you Maple *IS* indeed a dog, likely just under a year old. Found in New Mexico with her siblings and Airedale Terrier mix mom, Maple came to LOLA’S in late April 2024. In that time, she has slowly blossomed into a loving, quirky dog, willing to play with any other canine friend. She adores her toys and is happy to share, and she is always excited for breakfast and dinner. We recommend feeding her separately as she acclimates to her new surroundings; her temperament regarding food may vary depending on the attitude of her fellow canines. She has done just fine sharing treats, bones and rawhides in her foster home. She is largely housetrained. Maple will require a fully fenced yard as she is very leash averse and does not walk comfortably on a leash. She has made progress on being attached to a leash and walking along in short spurts, but she isn’t going to be your walking and jogging buddy and will need free reign for potty breaks. She doesn’t bark unnecessarily, though is very persistent in calling out if she wants or needs something.  Maple quickly gets comfortable with dogs, big and small, and is interested in engaging with a willing feline friend. She tends to choose a human to love and trust and bond with, though can be won over by others with patience and persistence. She prefers the reassuring presence of her favorite person, though doesn’t qualify as a velcro dog. At night she sleeps in a puppy pen area, but she does love naps and cuddles on the bed or couch. She loves food puzzles and is a champion jumper. Perhaps she is part kangaroo and not a deer after all. Apply online at (www.lolasrescue.com)!
