Meet Henry – A Hound With a Heart Full of Love and a Story That Deserves a Better Ending Henry was born in our shelter to his sweet mama, Maple. From day one, he and his siblings were little love bugs—charming, cuddly, and full of joy. We watched them grow, play, and win hearts with their big floppy ears and even bigger personalities. Henry was adopted as a young pup. We believed he was headed for a life full of love and loyalty. But despite our best efforts in vetting and our adoption contract, the promise made to Henry was broken. The person who took him in gave him away without ever notifying us—something our contract strictly forbids. And the people he was handed off to... they failed him even more. Henry was ultimately dumped, discarded like he didn’t matter. But he matters. Henry is now back in our care—safe, loved, and being looked after like he always should have been. The moment he saw Momma Kelsey, he remembered. His tail wagged, his eyes lit up, and he leaned in for the love he’s been missing. Despite the heartbreak and confusion he must have endured, Henry is still the same sweet, affectionate soul we knew as a puppy. That’s who he is at his core: loving, loyal, and forgiving. We’re making a promise to Henry again—but this time, we’ll be sure the next chapter of his life is written by someone who truly deserves to hold the pen. Henry is looking for an active, committed, and kind family who will never let him go. He’s neutered and is ready to move forward. He doesn’t need pity—he needs purpose. He needs someone to show him that forever isn’t just a word—it’s a promise kept.
