My story

When it rains it pours… meet our newest adorable tiny FRIENDLY chi Chico! This 11 year old 7.5lbs apple head was surrendered because the the kids got older and lost interest and no one in the family wanted to take care of him or clean up his messes when he was alone and ignored all day. He’s not had any recent vet care and we immediately noticed him constantly straining to pee tiny drops… he went right to the vet where our suspicions were confirmed: painful bladder stones! He had a history of uti’s during his last vet visit 3 years ago so we suspect he’s been having issues for a while. Surgery went well and he’s looking for a permanent home. He will likely need to stay on a prescription urinary diet to prevent stones from recurring down the line. He’s a happy sweet guy who loves humans, doesn’t seem to be such a fan of other dogs and probably would prefer to be an only pet, although might get along with a little tiny girl chihuahua. Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
