My story

Meet Shelby – Your Purrfect Lap Companion! 💗 Estimated Birthday: 6/14/2011 Shelby is a sweet senior kitty with a heart full of love and a soul as gentle as a soft purr. At nearly 14 years old, she’s searching for a forever family to cherish her golden years — offering snuggles, quiet companionship, and loyal affection in return. Fully litter box trained and well-mannered, Shelby is a low-maintenance companion who thrives in a calm, cozy environment. She hasn’t met children or dogs yet, but she’s shown polite curiosity toward her feline foster siblings from afar, and could likely coexist peacefully with other respectful cats after a slow introduction. Shelby is moderately social — the perfect mix of independent and affectionate. She loves curling up in your lap, basking in a sunny window, or simply relaxing nearby while you go about your day. She even enjoys being picked up, making her a top-tier cuddle buddy for movie nights or afternoon naps. Shelby does have hyperthyroidism, a common condition in older cats, but it’s easily managed with medication twice a day — which she takes like a champ, especially when there’s a treat involved! It doesn’t slow her down one bit. While she’s hearing-impaired and can be startled if approached suddenly, she quickly warms up once she realizes you’re near and is always happy to receive affection. If Shelby had a dream job, she’d be your personal secretary — quietly keeping you company, observing everything with calm wisdom, and offering gentle support from the comfort of your desk or lap. This lovely lady is ready to spend her golden years in a peaceful home filled with love, sunbeams, and soft blankets. If you’re looking for a mellow, affectionate friend to share your quiet moments, Shelby is ready to steal your heart. Adopt Shelby and give her the loving retirement she truly deserves. 🐾 Apply to adopt here: sayvanimals.org/adopt (PLEASE NOTE: Despite what PetFinder, AdoptAPet and other aggregation software systems state - the first step is to submit an application via the link above, NOT send a message through their platforms. Thank you!)

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Shelby, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
