My story

Meet Smidge — the sweet, curious, and playful pup who’s ready for her happily-ever-after! Smidge is the kind of dog who wins hearts fast. She’s super easy to leash up, hops in the car like a pro (and now rides quietly!), and walks beautifully on a loose leash after some initial pulling from excitement. She enjoys exploring, greeting people from a distance with a happy tail wag, and might give a little whine if she’s feeling extra excited—but a quick jog together makes her beam. In the home, she’s a delight: she’ll treat you to joyful zoomies, adorable cuddles, and peaceful snoozes. She’s treat-motivated, knows sit, is learning down, and seems to understand “outside” and “potty.” Smidge is also wonderfully communicative—she’ll let you know when she needs to go out or if she’s feeling a little unsure, but settles in with time, love, and reassurance. This sweet girl has been at the shelter before when she was younger, and we’d love to see her finally find the stable, loving home she deserves. If you’re looking for a loving, playful, and loyal companion, Smidge is ready to be your new best friend. 💖 As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
