My story

There is an adorable video of me on social media! Click here to experience the cuteness! Meet Chanel No. 5!This stunning 3-year-old large mixed breed is full of energy, personality, and love. Chanel was surrendered when her family welcomed a new baby into their home and felt they no longer had the time and space to care for her. Now, she's looking for an experienced adopter who can provide her with the structure, exercise, and patience she needs to thrive. She's a smart, enthusiastic pup who will benefit from continued training and enrichment. My Ideal HomeChanel needs an adult-only home with an adopter who understands her needs and can provide structured training, exercise, and positive reinforcement. A home without other dogs is recommended, as she can be selective about her canine friends.Good with Kids?No-Chanel needs a home with adults only (no children under 13).Good with Other Dogs?Chanel has shown some reactivity to certain dogs while on leash, so she would do best as the only dog in the home. She should avoid dog parks.Leash MannersChanel is strong on leash and can pull, especially when she sees other dogs. She will benefit from a front-clip harness and positive reinforcement training to help redirect her focus.Overall HealthChanel has undergone surgery to remove a mass from her back. She has healed well, but adopters should continue monitoring her skin and overall health with regular vet visits.Behavior DeterminationLevel 3 - Chanel has some challenges with impulse control, resource guarding, and leash reactivity. She will need an adopter who is committed to using positive, force-free training methods to help her succeed. One Fun Fact!Chanel loves to play! She enjoys engaging with toys, play-bowing, and using her smarts for fun enrichment games. If you're looking for a beautiful, high-energy pup to train and bond with, Chanel No. 5 could be your perfect match! Come meet her today. My #BoroughBreak Buddy writes:Chanel is the best and we can't understand how/why she's been at the shelter so long!! The minute we met her she was so happy and loving and wiggly. She enjoyed having down time at home in our bed as much as going out and walking around the city. She really loves grass and plants and all things green/nature. She makes an adorable kind of pig oink when she's happy and we just loved her so much. I think it's also worth mentioning that we really didn't experience any of the difficulties that are currently written in Chanel's bio. We walked by literally hundreds of dogs over the day and while she clearly noticed them, she NEVER barked, lunged, growled, etc., and she didn't even pull on the leash. She easily and without our redirection just kept walking by. We would without a doubt adopt her and keep her forever if we didn't already have a dog that is other dog reactive. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 54.5 Age: 3yrs 10mths 0wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chanel No. 5, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
