My story

Meet our chill, friendly guy, Vernon. This slightly senior guy (he`s 7 years old, but shhh, he doesn`t like to admit it) likes his humans and is relaxed when volunteers take him out for a walk. Vernon was found as a stray, so we don`t know where Vernon was his first 7 years or what his life was like. What we do know is that Vernon is such a friendly guy, he doesn`t deserve to spend his silver and golden years in a shelter or worse. Due to Vernon being an older guy he doesn`t particularly care for the youngsters so a home without children under 16 is a must. He is extremely friendly with adults and has loved everyone he has met doing his superviosr duties up at the adoptions desk.Vernon is a ladies’ man, though, and can`t live with other male dogs. If you have a soft spot for age advancing dogs, have no dogs in your home or have a female dog, come meet Vernon. KCPP staff will help facilitate a dog to dog meeting that will help better set you all up for success transitioning Vernon into the home. Vernon is a very smart boy, too. He know sit, shake, down and probably more! Don`t let this sweet, `sort of` senior spend the rest of his days in a shelter. Vernon is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. His ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.
