My story

Nelson was found as a stray in September 2024 and was later removed from another location as a stray in April 2025. Despite his uncertain past, Nelson has proven himself to be a loving and affectionate companion. Nelson is described as friendly, cuddly, and a little shy but overall a truly great dog. He has been good with strangers and other animals and walks nicely on a leash. Volunteers noted that Nelson can be a little anxious in the shelter environment, sometimes wanting to find a way out of the gated play yards. However, with patience, reassurance, and plenty of pets, he becomes much happier and more relaxed. It's clear he is longing for a home where he can feel safe and loved again. Nelson’s gentle spirit shines through despite his confusion about shelter life. He is ready for a fresh start with a family who will give him the security, affection, and understanding he deserves. Behavioral Notes 04/27/2025 Per volunteer 4/27/25: My heart absolutely melted today for sweet Nelson boy. He did appear a little anxious at times, wanting to get outside of the gated play yard. But with some reassurance and lots of pets, he seemed way happier. I could feel in my soul that this poor boy is just so confused and lost being in the shelter. He just needs his person to save him from the shelter life and welcome him into their home. He is the best boy you could ask for. Medical Notes Weight 55.9 lbs as of 04/26/2025 Vaccinations up to date through 04/26/2026, including Rabies, Bordetella, Distemper, Parvovirus, Adenovirus, and Parainfluenza. Pyrantel pamoate and Vectra 3D topical treatments completed on 09/12/2024. Initial intake exam on 09/12/2024 noted a thin body condition, clear eyes, clean ears, yellow staining on teeth, and an otherwise healthy and alert demeanor. No known ongoing medical concerns.
