My story

❤️‍🩹🐾❤️‍🩹 This is our sweet & kind soul, miss Angy. She’s a big lovable bear of a dog looking for a family of her own because of a couple’s separation. She is about 6 years old and a Labrador mixed with Bernese, making her the cuddliest of all the dogs. This gal loves being with other animals, like dogs or cats, but can also be the only dog in the household. She is super gentle, loving and calm but also has her spurts of puppy energy. Unfortunately, in her previous home, her health wasn’t the highest priority so she is very overweight and because of that her body is older than it should be. She is currently on Gabapentin and CBD oil for pain management and as anti-inflammatories. Her vet thinks perhaps physio and/or hydrotherapy would be great for her in the long term. Daily walks will help greatly. Angy needs a family that will help her get her weight down to a healthy number, she will need daily walks but also will need to have her stamina built as she’s not used to them. She loves to cuddle up next to you or lay at your feet when watching tv at night. She is the perfect companion for someone who wants to keep or get in shape, and they can help her along in their journey! Angy wasn’t able to undergo a dental cleaning while being sterilised, as the doctors deemed the surgery too lengthy and potentially dangerous. We do ask that her future family do a dental cleaning with a vet in the near future. We had an x-ray done for her, to see how her weight was affecting her bones, and were told that her bones have become pointy instead of round and the best thing for her health and well-being is to get her down to an appropriate weight with good diet and exercise. This gem of a dog hopefully has a very long life ahead of her, and she’s looking for a family to appreciate the sweet girl she is. She’s very obedient and falls in love with people quickly; she can be a bit nervous at first, but warms up fast. Angy is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed and sterilized and will come with her medical booklet. Sometimes a dog takes a little more time to open up, you may see them showing more and more of their personality over the course of the first few days, weeks or even months! We don’t know all that they’ve been through before they were rescued, but they are so forgiving and full of love and it’s worth every tough moment in the end. Developing a trusting relationship with your rescue dog is the most important thing. Stability, patience, positive reinforcement and love are the most important things!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Angy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
