My story

Meet Yam, a big-hearted, affectionate boy who’s ready to roll (literally!) into your life. Yam is an expert at spreading joy, whether he’s strolling by your side on a leash, lounging for belly rubs, or dishing out sweet kisses. This large adult dog is as well-mannered as they come. He’s great in the car, making him the perfect companion for road trips or quick errands, and he’s a polite walking buddy who enjoys exploring at a relaxed pace. Yam also has a playful side, and when he’s not busy being the best cuddle bug ever, he loves to roll around and show off his goofy charm. You can meet our adoptable animals at any time during open hours.In addition to our main shelter at 1855 SE Inner Loop, Georgetown, TX 78626, you can also meet adoptable dogs at our satellite location, the Red Poppy Adoptique, located at 110 W L Walden Dr, Georgetown, TX 78626.Interested in fostering a dog in need? Join our foster team at www.wilcotx.gov/390/Fostering and click on “Foster Questionnaire.”Looking for a fun way to make a difference? Try our Doggy Day Out program! Take one of our pups on an adventure for a few hours—giving them a much-needed break from the shelter while you enjoy some quality time. The program runs at both locations daily starting at noon.We always welcome your dogs to come and meet our dogs, too! We’ll see you soon at either location!
