Whitley is one of the Spencer County hoarding dogs that arrived at GRRAND last September. She is a little over 2 years old. She doesn't mess in her run, has been spayed, and loves to play with other dogs. Whitly has come along, but still has a ways to go. She is hilarious and her antics makes the kennel volunteers laugh on a daily basis! She is very treat motivated and will gently take them from your hand. She plays so hard with the other dogs, and doesn't realize she's only 40 lbs when she's rough and tumbling with 70 lbs Lab and Great Pyrenees pups! We are working with her to get her used to a leash. She fights it, but is slowly getting more used to it. She is also very leary of being petted, and we are working with a trainer to help her overcome that hurdle. When Whitley goes home she will need another stable, playful dog, a secure fenced yard, and experienced dog owners. Although she shows no aggression to people, she cannot go in a home with small children as we believe, at least initially, she will be a big flight risk. We have found the Spencer County dogs in general do well with cats. We'll continue to work with this sweet girl and will send out updates and please let me know if you have any questions about Whitley. A beacon of hope shines bright as GRRAND and animal advocates across the commonwealth collaborate to help rescue animals trapped in a devastating hoarding situation on a rural County Kentucky farm. Advocates eagerly await justice for the abused animals and the swift rescue of those still suffering in inhumane conditions and Whitley was one of these dogs. It's awful to think of the terrible lives and abuse they have been subjected to. A litter of 4 week old puppies were found on the property and all had to be treated at the Emergency Vet for Parvo to save their lives and sadly, one did not make it. We have extremely high vet expenses for these dogs and really need ongoing donations to pay for all their care and we are also in desperate need of foster homes for these dogs. As we continue to assess the individual needs of these deserving animals, additional information to come, so please check back for more updates... This is Whitley and she will need a home with an above ground securely fenced yard as she is considered a flight risk due to lack of socialization and human love. She will need a family with the time and patience to work with her through any insecurities she may have. If you would like to open your home to foster or adopt Whitley, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org or if you would like to donate to the care of these needy dogs, please click the GOFUNDME link to learn more... https://www.gofundme.com/f/rescue-for-dogs-in-deplorable-conditions ##2190830##
