Whitley is a 2 year old Lab/Golden mix and is one of the Spencer County hoarding dogs that arrived at GRRAND last September '24. She was in the kennel for quite some time and has gone to a foster home (in July) and we are happy to report that she is doing just great!!! We are told: "At the beginning she was a bit nervous, but with time, she started going to extended family for treats, goes in and out of the house with no issues, is very good in the car, and is doing very well with leash walking. She loves her walks as they go out 1-2 times daily with conquering up to 30 minutes depending on the heat, and Whitley likes walking with the family dog too. She is getting more and more comfortable with her new digs and has a new found love for the toy box. She loves to take one at a time out to inspect and play….hence the play pile! (As you can see from the pictures, Whitley has no lack for toys or comfort... JUST how it should be!) She has a spot in the house to chill out, but would rather be out with me and her doggie foster brother so that’s awesome. She likes to lay on the cot bed to keep an eye on her foster mom while she is working too. Stay tuned for more info! She is definitely one of the more outgoing pups of the Spencer County group and we thought she would warm up quickly once she’s had a chance to decompress and learn about her new routine and surroundings, and that is exactly how it's going too. Overall, she is doing incredibly well at her foster's home!" Whitley's new home will need another stable, playful dog, a secure above ground fenced yard as she is still considered a flight risk, and experienced dog owners who will have the patience and compassion to work with her through her adjustments of being in a home. If you would like to foster or adopt Whitley, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org A beacon of hope shines bright as GRRAND and animal advocates across the commonwealth collaborate to help rescue animals trapped in a devastating hoarding situation on a rural County Kentucky farm. Advocates eagerly await justice for the abused animals and the swift rescue of those still suffering in inhumane conditions and Whitley was one of these dogs. It's awful to think of the terrible lives and abuse they have been subjected to. A litter of 4 week old puppies were found on the property and all had to be treated at the Emergency Vet for Parvo to save their lives and sadly, one did not make it. We have extremely high vet expenses for these dogs and really need ongoing donations to pay for all their care and we are also in desperate need of foster homes for these dogs. If you have any questions or would like to adopt Whitley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
