A volunteer writes:It took quite a while for Licorice to come out of her shell! Cats for some reason(s), often become less shy after going through a cold, may be because they are so dependent on their caretakers to get better. She is a pretty all ebony dame with a white medallion on her chest whose past is a total mystery. I was so glad to see her accepting my pets, leaning and even very softly purring. Licorice is a shy kitty who for now needs soft words and gentle handling. I am looking forward to tempt her with catnip toys, feather wands and tasty treats. We dream for her to find a caring family who will give her a loving home for years to come. Come and meet sweet Licorice at the Manhattan Care Center.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.Licorice tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred and be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Black Weight: 8.9 Age: 4yrs 0mths 3wks
