What do you get when you cross a cat with a couch? A cat-potato! And that's me to a T!I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.Sylvester tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to the behavior shown, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced.A volunteer writes: Sylvester's former person described him as "a purrfect cat." He's curious about strangers, friendly toward kids, litterbox trained, and enjoyed hanging out with his people when he wasn't lazing on the couch or playing with toy balls. Unfortunately none of his awesomeness prevented him from getting the boot when a newborn came into the household. Now this handsome boy is bunking in the cat adoption room, and he's been somewhat standoffish as he's adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings. When I met him the other day, he seemed calm and warm, a gentleman all dressed up in his tuxedo but unsure of what his future held. We have a feeling that once Sylvester finds his new pet parents and gets back into a real home, he's going to blossom. Introduce yourself to Sly at the Manhattan Care Center today!
