Pepper

My story

A volunteer writes:Although I prefer sweets, I do have a soft spot for Pepper, a middle aged gentleman brought into our care as his owner passed away. Pepper is a gentle cat, a little shy but curious and who quickly comes to trust his visitor. I really feel for him as he looks so alone and vulnerable in a world that he does not recognize. Pepper comes forward, though, encouraging and soft words helping. He is cute in his shiny all ebony coat, a bit too thin, petite and very endearing, his beautiful eyes always searching mine. Pepper purrs softly, leans and head bunts, slowly advancing to his door in the hope to have some lap time. I can picture him as a true lovebug! I think that Pepper(who did very well on his behavior evaluation) will make a very sweet and loyal four legged best friend for years to come. He is already neutered and could go home today! Come and meet him very soon at the Manhattan Care Center.My foster wrote: Pepper's a true gentleman, with his sleek black coat, flecked salt-and-pepper neck, and a hidden tuft of white between his hind legs.Pepper is a lap cat, and if he had to choose between food and affection, he'd choose being near you every time. Whether he's curled up on your lap or nestled on your chest, he'll reward you with a steady, comforting purr. His favorite way to show love is with constant, gentle headbutts-he'll nuzzle up to your face every few seconds, just to make sure you know how much he cares. He's perfectly content to spend hours in your lap, especially if you're working from home, keeping you company as he purrs away.Pepper's love of affection isn't limited to his main human. Since he's been in foster care, he's met plenty of visitors and has shown the same affectionate, easygoing attitude with everyone he meets. He's curious, gentle, and open-hearted, making him a joy to be around for family and friends alike.While Pepper has lived peacefully with other cats before, he seems happiest as a solo cat. He'll coexist peacefully with calm animals who respect his space, but he really shines when he's the main focus in a calm, cozy environment. He's also adapted to living with his foster's cat and dog-he prefers to keep his distance, and they do the same, but they all get along fine in shared spaces. If he joins a home with other pets, it's ideal that they're respectful of his boundaries.Pepper also has a voice and isn't shy about using it! If he spots you heading toward the kitchen, he'll meow to let you know he's ready for some wet food. With his gentle nature, affectionate personality, and occasional "conversations," Pepper brings so much warmth and companionship into any space he's in.If you're looking for a loyal, calm, and people-loving companion who will make you feel cherished every day, Pepper could be your perfect match.
