Meet Beckham! Beckham entered Riverside Shelter as a stray, and unfortunately, he wasn't claimed. After the shelter reached out for an exit plan for this little guy, we scooped him up to become a Frosted Face on November 12th. Beckham is 12 years old and weighs 17 lbs. Since becoming a Frosted Face, he has had a dental and surgery to repair a large perianal hernia. Beckham isn't the type of dog we refer to as a "Frosted Faker" that acts younger than his years. He is very much a senior gentleman -- a bit frail, very sweet pup who doesn't ask for much more than a cozy bed, good food, and the understanding of a loving family. For nearly 3 months, Beckham has lived in a foster home with a dedicated, longtime FFF volunteer. She shares: "Beckham is absolutely the sweetest, kindly senior dog I've ever met at Frosted Faces. He isn't reactive towards anything or anyone. He is quiet, calm, accepting, and loves attention. He just likes to watch his family and be near by. He is not clingy or demanding. Beckham knows exactly where everything is—his food, water, chew toys, my location, and all the cozy beds. Beckham wants to cuddle with my other dogs, and one of mine is agreeable. Beckham enjoys toddling along behind my other dogs during our visits to grassy parks. I use a harness to gently guide him and keep him comfortable. Most of the time, he rides in a stroller, and I take him out so he can sniff and explore at his own pace. At home, Beckham needs to be carried down any stairs, as they're a bit too much for him to manage on his own. Beckham eats anything, but he prefers wet food and mini-size kibble. He loves to eat, so he should be monitored during mealtimes. If he finishes first, he'll try to check for leftovers in my other dogs' bowls. Despite his love of food, Beckham does not guard his food. Beckham may have been potty trained before, but now as a senior, he toddles around and goes as he needs to. I can anticipate poop times, as it is after breakfast and dinner. The rest of the time, he wears a belly band for accidents. Beckham goes out around first thing in the morning, then settles in for a long nap after breakfast. During the day, he enjoys toddling around outside and napping on the deck, soaking up the fresh air and sunshine. Beckham is unfazed by sudden potty breaks, being scooped up, whisked down the stairs, having his diaper removed, or being set on the deck. He simply stands there quietly, patiently waiting until you're done, then toddles off with his curly little head down, reminding me so much of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. I always carry him back inside like a baby, and he thanks me with a gentle kiss on the nose. Above all, Beckham is pure sweetness—lovable through and through. Beckham would do best in a calm house with however many dogs and cats you have that would make room for a doddering old fella like him. Being near near his pack of human and dog companions is what makes Beckham the happiest." Do you have a spot in your heart for this precious pup?
