My story

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.Tabitha tolerates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Due to the behavior shown, she may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced. My foster writes: Tabitha is a quiet shy girl looking for a patient and understanding adopter. She is good with cats and both small and big dogs. She will do well in an adult only home or one with older children. My foster writes: Meet our quiet observer! She takes her time getting comfortable and is still working on building trust. While she's shy and keeps her distance, she does enjoy playing with her toys at night. She's a low-maintenance, peaceful cat, perfect for someone who values a calm and quiet companion. Ready to welcome this gentle soul into your home?A volunteer writes: Lady Tabitha came to us with her sixteen housemates as their owner was taken into care. She is a shy semi senior whose life was turned up side down in a flash. We will never know what place she held in her tribe and in her former owner 's heart. Tabitha is always found at the back of her kennel, likely limiting her movements to visiting her litter box and feeding herself. She might at times move around to stretch her legs when nobody watches. She is a bit wary when someone opens her door but she does not run away or get up to meet her visitor. She waits with some apprehension for the hand that is eager(although gentle) to touch her and make her feel better. She eventually leans at a thirty degree angle into pets and at times, a faint purr can be felt under the fingers. Tabitha is a pretty tabby and white kitty who might very well open up in an experienced home, with the love of a new owner who understands timid felines and in particular when they have been uprooted. Tabitha is waiting for that very special person, hoping to find and give love. Come and meet Tabitha in person at the Manhattan Care Center.Consider may be adopting Tabitha with one of her friends, there are so many lovely chaps to choose from... Primary Color: Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 7.9 Age: 8yrs 11mths 0wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tabitha, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
