My story

Gretel came to us emaciated and in urgent need of care, but she’s made an incredible transformation. Through the Camp K-9 training program at the Kentucky State Reformatory, Gretel has truly thrived. While her brother Hansel has already found his forever home, Gretel is still patiently waiting for hers. This sweet girl has a heart full of love and resilience, despite being let down by humans early in life. She’s affectionate, loyal, and has just the right amount of energy—playful but not overwhelming. Gretel enjoys running, playing, and showing off her skills. She’s mastered basic commands and even knows a few fun tricks! Her only request? A cat-free home. Otherwise, she’s just about perfect. Gretel is a healthy 54-pound mixed breed, likely with some Shepherd and Hound in her. And did we mention her coat? It’s incredibly soft—just one more reason to fall in love with her.
