My story

Charlie is a striking Shar Pei mix with a heart as big as his soulful, expressive eyes. DNA says he’s part Shar Pei, Mini Aussie, and Beagle—but he’s 100% original. Life has brought a lot of change for this sweet boy in just three years, but he’s still holding out hope for a forever home filled with love, patience, and stability. Charlie finds comfort in the company of his people and joy in life’s simple pleasures—leisurely walks (he may pull a bit in his excitement), cozy naps, and snuggling close. He’s working on building confidence and managing separation anxiety, so he’s looking for an adopter who understands that trust takes time and is ready to help him feel safe and secure. In foster care, Charlie has had mixed experiences with other dogs and cats. He has done well when introduced slowly, and with an owner that understands he can be sensitive about sharing—especially when it comes to food. Slow introductions are essential, and he should be fed separately from other animals. He’s also happy to be your one and only! Charlie is house- and kennel-trained, sleeps in bed at night, and loves spending time outdoors. At his core, he’s a gentle, affectionate pup ready to bloom in the right home. Charlie is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program, giving you the chance to get to know him in your home before finalizing the adoption.
