My story

Dawna came in to us in absolutely horrific condition. She was skin and bones, with hardly a hair on her body. Just a little flea treatment and food, and she’s like a new dog! She is very fond of people, and will solicit attention from you as much as you let her. All she wants to do is be next to someone who will pet her, she loves to nap with her head resting on her person. She needed an opportunity to blossom into the dog she wanted to be and MARQ has given her that chance. She is shining bright now. She knows her basic commands, and is working on more advanced skill like "touch" and "place." She is very smart and highly food motivated making her very easy to train. Her adoption fee has been sponsored, so all she needs now if a hero! Who is able to give this amazing dog a soft spot to land? The kind folks at Westlake in waldo have donated a $100 gift card, and a bunch of goodies to get you started once you adopt! She is a wonderful dog that loves children, but prefers to be the only pet in the home. She does great out in public, and is good on a leash, and in the car. All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above,) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays.
