My story

Bear is a neutered male 7 year old boxer mix that weights 75 lbs. We believe bear has lived with small dogs most of his life. Because he was abandoned we do not have a lot of history about him. However, he is currently living with a volunteer in Foster with her senior dog, and she has shared this information with us: Bear has a gentle temperament and has been inclined to follow the people around the house. I worked from home most of this week and he and our dog were my steadfast officemates. Wednesday was the first day he wandered into another room independently during the workday and curled up on the sofa on his own. He prefers it, though, when there is an available lap to plop his giant head in. He has fallen right into the household routine and lets us know when he wants to go out - though he usually just needs to follow our dogs cues on that one. They have gotten along swimmingly. At mealtime, he regularly eats all but about two bites of his food. He sleeps and snuggles a lot but can get quite silly with a stuffed toy or bring you something to play tug with. He sleeps contentedly in a dog bed overnight but takes little persuading to come up for a snuggle. He's a strong guy, pulls a little on a leash but is quite good on a walk. Bear will be headed to the vet and fully vetted before he is adopted out. If you would like to do a meet and greet with bear please fill out his application and send any of your questions to his adoption counselor Marney.b@poainc.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bear, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
