My story

Handsome Bobansome is a lively and lovable pup enrolled in our Shelter Scholars program, where he's working on managing hyperarousal and learning how to channel his energy in more balanced ways. With the support of relaxation protocols, Bobansome is practicing self-regulation skills that help him pause, breathe, and settle-especially in moments of high excitement. Through positive reinforcement training and calming enrichment activities, he's making great strides in becoming more thoughtful and focused.What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!I would do best in a home with only adult humans.I'm ready to learn! After spending all day in a kennel, he's thrilled to go to the yard where he can play and run off some of his pent-up puppy energy - zooming around with his toy, then running up to me when I show him a tennis ball. He stretches out his front legs, butt high in the air and tail wagging, waiting for me to toss the ball. Then he's off, gleefully chasing after the balls. He hasn't quite mastered the game of fetch, often returning without the ball; but that's okay - it's all about the fun! Handsome was highly social during his behavioral assessment and friendly during his medical exam; but the anxiety of months in a shelter environment has made it difficult for him to focus on interacting much. But I think once in a patient, loving home - without all this stress - his sweet, affectionate personality will totally blossom. Handsome's got a lot going for him - he's very young; highly attentive; knows "sit" (and a smart pup like him would thrive on learning more cues); has lots of energy (consider cancelling your gym membership); and has been housebroken with regular walks.
