My story

Vera was born sometime between 2015 and 2022. If that seems like a lot of uncertainty, that’s because we usually age cats by their teeth and Vera’s are missing! This is because of the high ammonia levels in the environment she had been forced to live in. (Sadly, rescues see this all the time and can tell the difference between this and tooth-loss from old age.) Vera’s fur was so stained it was also hard to say what color she was, even after a bath. It took a full shedding cycle to be sure she is gray! We don’t know how she’s still so small when she spends most of her time napping or hovering around a food dish. We have a lot of unanswered questions about this little lady, but we do know that she is very friendly! Vera came to us out of a bad situation. Her rescuers actually thought she was dying. Fortunately, she turned out to be stable,  and the shelter was able to address her needs and eventually move her to a community room .  Vera made fast friends and bonded with Twizzler, a male brown classic tabby who also has an unusual face. The bonded pair are very sweet together, often curled together in a cat bed. As mature cats who spend most of their time joined at the hip, this low-maintenance bundle would provide you with love and smiles for many years to come.  Vera is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
