EMERGENCY PLACEMENT DEADLINE3PM 04/13/25Name: Akasha Animal ID: A859818Age: 2 yearsWeight: 63 lbs. About:Fans of Anne Rice’s gothic vampire novels or subsequent movies, The Vampire Chronicles, know that Akasha was an ancient Egyptian queen and the very first vampire. She became known as “Great Mother,” and was renowned for her beauty. Our Akasha has a much less dramatic origin story; In one home she was a very loving and sweet girl who loved to cuddle and be close to her people. She knew basic commands and was house and crate trained.A volunteer who recently spent time with Akasha shared, “Akasha was friendly and curious when I entered her kennel to leash her up. She happily accepted getting leashed, which is amazing, considering she was not leash-trained when she entered the shelter a few weeks ago! She is obviously smart and trainable! Once in the play yard, she went potty right away and then came over to me for snuggles. She is very, very sweet and friendly. She patiently tolerated her slightly pushy kennelmate and followed me around the yard, hoping for more cuddles. She needs OUT of the shelter and into a loving home ASAP!!”Because Akasha thrives on dedicated attention and playtime with her people, to ensure a harmonious home environment given her resource guarding tendencies, she is looking for a loving forever home where she can be the sole pet for the focus of affection. Akasha will happily soak up all the love and enjoy being the center of attention, especially during exciting games of chase with balls and energetic tug-of-war with ropes!Available for adoption only through PACC.Adoption Process:Interested parties:Must visit PACC before 3:00 PM April 13, 2025, deadline to meet with an adoption counselor who will go over notes and then introduce you to ensure that it’s a good fit. Please Note: Akasha CANNOT go to a home with other pets Home Management Plan1) Bite History • Moderate bite- victim was trying to separate dog altercation and was bitten on the hand and wrist2) No Other Dogs/pets • altercations seen in a home and in the shelter3) Resource Guards Attention/Space (from dogs) • Watch any interactions with dogs in close proximity to your space or their space (i.e. beds, kennels, etc) • Divide attention equally between your current pets and your new dog. • Ensure that each pet has a space to move away from other pet
