My story

Meet Jason, a 1 year old Terrier mix, he currently weighs 15 lbs but his ideal weight will be under 20. He had a rough puppyhood without adequate food, shelter & a loving hand. In his foster home, feeling safe & cared for, he’s starting to come out of his shell. Although he’s timid and afraid of sudden movements, he watches the other foster family dogs to see how to engage & to learn how to trust. He is slowly overcoming his fears & showing his sweet, playful nature. With love & attention he wants to show affection, snuggle & bond with people. As a young dog that hasn’t had normal puppy experiences yet, he’s still a little mouthy nibbling on fingers when he plays & getting into typical young dog mischief. He’s energetic & fast, he enjoys running around & playing with his doggy foster siblings. He should have a canine sibling that he can learn from & to continue building confidence with. He is potty training using a dog door to go outside on grass & he loves the freedom to go outside all day. He needs leash work to go on walks, as he is a flight risk he will need a yard. He prefers to sleep snuggling with people & other pets instead of being in a crate. He’s fostered with multiple dogs of all sizes & ages, he most comfortable with dogs his size. He is available for adoption with another Underdog for someone without a 2nd dog or is looking for a pair. He will need an adopter with experience nurturing a timid pup, patience, understanding & positive reinforcement as he comes out of his shell. He is scared of loud noises & when being chased to be picked up. He would be best for dog savvy older kids that have experience going slow with pets. He does not live with cats, his experience with them is unknown. An after adoption plan will need to be in place that is specific to nurturing his needs for there to be a successful transition, a family committed to providing mental & physical stimulation, socialization & structured training. In the event your application isn't accepted or might be a better fit for another dog, we will provide feedback and suggest alternative matches. All our dogs undergo comprehensive vetting, including spaying/neutering, microchipping, DHPP, flea treatment, deworming, and Rabies vaccinations. Additional vet care is provided as needed based on their requirements. The adoption fee for this dog is $250, serving as a non-refundable donation.
