Introducing Athena Very Playful Affectionate Kind Initially Reserved Personality: Athena is a kind-hearted and playful young Great Dane who loves adventure just as much as she loves relaxing with her people. Initially reserved, she takes a little time to warm up to new faces but quickly becomes affectionate once she feels comfortable. Socialness: Athena is shy when first meeting new people but becomes friendly once she gains confidence. She has not had experience with children, so slow introductions are necessary. Due to her energy level, she would do best in a home with children aged 8+ or those with experience being around large dogs. She is submissive with other dogs and would thrive in a home with a canine companion to play with. She has not been tested with cats, so structured introductions are recommended if her forever home has feline family members. Likes Playing outside Snoozing on the couch New adventures Spending time with her people Dislikes Not highly motivated by toys or treats Training: Athena is a smart and eager learner. She knows the commands sit and settle but will need continued training to reinforce good manners. She has displayed some food aggression, so her forever family must be committed to helping her work through this with structured guidance. She is not crate-trained but does well staying in a spare bedroom while her foster family is out. She has not been destructive in their absence. Athena is fully housebroken. Health: Athena is in great health with no current concerns. Forever Home Requirements: A physical fence is recommended – Any yard size will work, but she needs a safe place to play A patient and understanding family – She is initially shy and needs time to warm up to new people A dog companion would be a plus – She enjoys playing with other dogs and would benefit from a canine friend A family committed to training – She will need continued work on food aggression and leash manners Children (if any) should be 8+ years old or experienced with large dogs– Due to her young age and energy level Fun Fact: Athena isn’t a typical Velcro-Dane—she enjoys her independence but still loves being around her people. Whether she’s off on an adventure or curling up for a nap, she brings a perfect balance of playfulness and relaxation!
