Hello everyone. My name is Nutmeg and here is a little info about me: Breed: Chihuahua/Welsh CorgiAge: 7 yearsGender: Female Weight: 15.5 lbHeight: 30 cmHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, not scared of strangers, affectionate I used to be a stray, wandering the streets, until some kind humans finally caught me after months of trying. I was on the euthanasia list at the city pound, but thankfully, I was saved just in time! Soon after, I surprised everyone—I was pregnant! I gave birth to six beautiful puppies on June 29, 2024, and took great care of them until they were ready to find their own homes. After my puppies were weaned, I started my heartworm treatment, and guess what? I’m officially heartworm-free as of January 4, 2025! I also had my spay surgery and a dental cleaning, so I’m all set for my new home. I have an old knee injury, but it healed on its own, and I have no trouble walking or running—though joint supplements will help keep me feeling great. I’m a super affectionate girl who LOVES belly rubs. Seriously, if I trust you, my belly is yours to rub! I’m very soft and don’t mind being petted or even picked up. I also love sleeping right next to my humans. When it comes to other dogs, I’m more of a “coexist peacefully” type than a social butterfly. I don’t seek out playtime with new dogs, but I get along just fine with them. If a dog gets too pushy, I might give a little growl, but I never start fights. My foster mom says I mostly played with my daughters, but I did have fun at a doggy café once! I’ve met a cat before and was very gentle, so I could live with a cat, too. I enjoy my walks and outdoor adventures. One time, my foster mom took me on a 350-meter-high hill, and she said she saw the happiest smile on my face! I do tend to pull on the leash a bit, and if another dog is reactive toward me, I might react back. But I’m not scared of urban noises and generally follow my handler well. I’m house-trained, crate-trained, and have no resource-guarding issues. I don’t have separation anxiety, but I do bark a little when left alone for a long time or when I hear strange noises. I also sometimes get a bit tense in the car, but I don’t get sick. The only thing I don’t love? Abrupt vet exams. If a vet moves too quickly, I might air-nip to let them know I’m uncomfortable. And if I’m backed into a corner and someone tries to drag me, I might also air-nip—so just coax me instead! I have a moderate energy level—I love going on walks and adventures, but I also enjoy relaxing at home afterward. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, adventure-ready pup who also appreciates cozy cuddles, I might be the perfect match for you! Will you be my forever family? Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2315928##
