My story

Mr. Mom is one of the hidden gems we have at the shelter. You may ask: "How did he get the name Mr. Mom?" Mr. Mom was brought in to the shelter as a stray with 3 brown puppies and was very concerned and protective of them. Because of his nurturing quality, he earned his name and our staff lovingly called him Mr. Mom.The puppies have since been adopted and Mr. Mom awaits his forever family; patiently lying on his bed for his turn to go out on a walk and an occasional treat and hug or opportunity to go to playgroups. During playgroups, we learned that Mr. Mom has pogo sticks for legs! He uses them to bounce up and over his playmates during playgroups! He is silly and rambunctious. Excitable and eager to engage with others, Mr. Mom dove into high energy hijinks with gusto! He may not be every dog's cup of tea due to his high energy playstyle, so slow introductions over time will help to ensure his success with cohabitating with another resident dog.Our volunteers like to take Mr. Mom out of the shelter for some one-on-one time at local parks. Here is what they had to say about his latest adventure: "He rode very well in the car on the way to the park and loved feeling the wind in his jowls! He hopped in the car like he knew we were going somewhere fun. Once we arrived at the park, he made sure he sniffed nearly every blade of grass and left his mark on every tree he could. He walked wonderfully through the park and we even stopped to learn about cotton gins (he loved that part). There weren't many people to meet, but we met a nice security guard on a golf cart and he wasn't scared of the cart at all. We saw ponds and the geese honked at him, but he was too busy sniffing all of the other things to even notice. We did a bit of rock climbing (see his mad skills in the photo) and he was eager to go wherever I wanted! After about a mile and a half walk, we were both warm and made the hike back to the car where he enjoyed a nice cool bowl of water." Mr. Mom is always eager for the next adventure so let's find him a family and a real home so that the shelter becomes nothing but a distant memory for him! He's sure to become a cherished ray of sunshine in your home, bringing joy and laughter to your everyday life! He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 78 Age: 5yrs 11mths 2wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mr. Mom, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
