My story

FOSTERED IN: Chicago, IL 60619 ESTIMATED DOB: 2013 WEIGHT: 14lbs KIDS: No DOGS: No CATS: Yes HISTORY: Frankie was surrendered to an animal control facility when they could no longer care for him due to the addition of children into the home. ABOUT: Frankie is a smart, low-energy, treat loving guy who is practically the cutest thing ever. Frankie walks well on leash and is also good in the car, but he doesn’t lay down and prefers to stand on the console or look out the window. Frankie loves stuffed toys and has a ball taking all the stuffing out in his hunt for the squeaker. Frankie can be timid with new people so it can take a little time to earn his trust. Frankie loves to follow his foster from room to room. Everywhere she goes, he goes. He particularly loves to sit by her (or behind her) on the couch. Frankie’s timidness can make him a little reactive, especially when sleeping. If he is startled awake he may growl or snap. He is not particularly fond of having other dogs in the home, so we wonder if this behavior might lessen a bit in a quiet, predictable home without any other dogs. He will need a confident owner, who will be confident and in-control when Frankie’s fear/insecurity causes him to growl. Frankie is very smart and would likely respond quickly to training as a way to create a bond and security for him. Frankie should be adopted to an adult-only home. Frankie is being fostered with a cat, he likes to watch the cat but has never attempted to chase or bother her. He responded well when he tried to peek at the cat on the bed - who told him to buzz off, in no uncertain terms! Frankie is being fostered with other dogs, but he must be adopted as an only dog as he is territorial if they get too close. He has done fine with dogs outside the home that he passes on leash or at the vet. Frankie knows about going potty outside, but he does mark on occasion. It has diminished as he has been in his foster home, but will occasionally have an accident or two, usually near the door. He is agreeable to wearing belly bands when he can’t be watched. Frankie is currently being crated when his foster is gone, and he does very well in it. He is only crated because there are other dogs in the home, but he likely would do well outside his crate with a belly band or secured in an area where an accident wouldn’t be the end of the world. Frankie will bark and whine if his foster is home and he cannot see her - but he does not bark when she leaves the house. He sleeps in his crate at night without any fuss. More information and our adoption application can be found at www.luluslockerrescue.org.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Frankie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
