My story

Meet Onyx! He’s a 3-year-old, 58-pound bundle of energy, curiosity, and love. Onyx hops right into the car all by himself, ready for whatever adventure comes next. Once he’s had a chance to get his energy out, he settles in and rides well. He’s a strong puller on leash at first, but it’s manageable. After a long walk, he eases into a nice pace and seems content to explore at your side. He’s not super food motivated, but when he realizes you’re offering a treat, he takes it with the softest mouth—very polite and gentle. Onyx enjoys toys and a good game of fetch. He doesn’t always drop the toy right away, but he’s just making the fun last a little longer. After he gets his zoomies out, he happily leans in for pets and attention, showing off his sweet and affectionate side. If you’re looking for a playful, loyal companion who’s always up for a walk or a ride, Onyx is ready to meet you. Onyx has shown positive interest in other dogs. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
