If you’re looking for a calm, steady presence in a chaotic world, Orion might just be your guy. He’s not loud or flashy. When you walk by his crate, he’s sitting quietly, waiting with hopeful eyes. The shelter is full, but Orion handles it all with quiet grace. He walks beautifully on leash, stays close, checks in often - like he’s already decided you’re his person. In the yard, he opens up. He explores, comes back for pets, leans in for comfort. And when he feels safe? The zoomies come out, the toys fly, and you see the playful, trusting pup underneath it all. Orion won’t beg for your attention. But once you give it, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without him. Come meet Orion at ACCT Philly, open daily from 10 am to 6 pm VIDEO Orion showing off sit and impulse control: https://youtube.com/shorts/6dqmjjUuQ_w?feature=shared Orion knows how to have fun: https://youtube.com/shorts/cT6ECC-QSP0?feature=shared Orion playing with his stuffie: https://youtube.com/shorts/7sWahJtCNPY?feature=shared BEHAVIOR 08/03/2025 volunteer notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Orion is in a crate due to space. He was sitting calmly at the front waiting to head outside. Easy to leash & walked through the kennels without issue. LEASH SKILLS: Orion is easy to manage on his leash walks well stays by your side minimal pulling. Appears house trained, he relieved himself as soon as we got outside. SOCIABILITY: Orion is a happy friendly pup. He allows handling all over while keeping his body loose with a wagging tail. He explored around the yard on his own & would come back to me for check ins & pets. After a bit of time together he was happy to share a seat & lean in for more comfort. He didn’t show much interest in treats. PLAY & TOYS: Initially fearful of a tossed toy a squeaker, but once we settled in he was bouncing around, got the zoomies, & running after toys, & bringing them back. He did take possession but was happy to release on his own. DOG INTERACTION: We saw a few dogs passing in the yard & Orion was interested in them. He would bark & paw at the fence, still he was easy to distract & recall with a toy or a treat. RETURNING TO KENNEL: Followed a PB bone into his crate with no issue COLOR LEVEL: Experienced Gold NOTES & VIDEOS FROM HIS PREVIOUS SHELTER STAY Videos: Lucky, Chickie, Doc, Blue, and Orion drop leash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72a_4oF8dlk Doc, Blue, Orion, and Blake drop leash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU249eL0oLQ Lucky, Chickie, Doc, Blue, Orion, and Blake drop leash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI_AKXp-JUI BEHAVIOR NOTES: 03/18/2025 volunteer notes: Orion sat at his kennel door and patiently waited for me to leash him, making no attempt to push his way out. He's a very housetrained boy, as he immediately went to the bathroom a few times once we left the building. I saw notes stating that he's timid and takes time to warm up, but that wasn't the case today. Once he took care of his bathroom business, Orion was ready to be best friends. At the first site of grass, he developed a little hop in his step and repeatedly looked up to me as if to express his excitement that there was so much space to roam. He rarely pulled on the leash and was easy to manage. Whenever I displayed him a treat, he immediately sat and waited patiently for me to give it to him. He consistently sat on command and then looked to me for direction or more treats. Orion is very friendly and playful, displaying frequent play bowing. A few times, when he was excited, he would hop up high and lightly chest bump me and then continue to walk. When we weren't walking, Orion would sit at my feet or between my legs and lean in for chin and neck scratches. Orion is a very gentle and well-mannered boy with a sweet, playful side. He returned to his kennel with no issue. 03/15/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Steerable at the gate. Greeted dogs enthusiastically (wanting to play). Took correction well from another dog asking for space. Rough and rowdy play style. 03/14/2025 volunteer notes: Orion exited his kennel and walked outside with ease. He is timid and needs a slow approach. When we were first in the yard he showed no interest in me so I let him wander around at his own pace. I did try petting him and he flinched away, so I sat at a distance to observe. After a bit he began trying to find a way out of the yard, so I grabbed his leash and we walked around in the yard a bit to see what his leash manners were like. He was fine, so we hit the parking lot and went for a short run, which he seemed to enjoy! After our run Orion was much more open to handling. He allowed pets all over and was happy to be by my side. He really got excited and opened up when he saw another dog. We did a short fence meet with Diesel and Orion was playbowimg and showing off his playfulness! After a few more loops around the yard we went into a small run where Orion started to fully welcome interaction with me and was happy to receive pets all over and even shared a few cuddles and kisses. He’s a really sweet boy, he’s just unsure of where he is right now and probably also confused about why. 03/13/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Orion was very soft at the gate and seemed very fearful of the other dogs. Once he was in the yard, he opened up the longer he was in there and was running back and forth with the other dogs. It seemed as though he may have been exit-searching a bit, but he also enjoyed being in the presence of the other softer dogs. 03/12/2025 finder described Orion as “friendly, shy, cuddly, and playful” ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
