My story

Riley is a gentle 10-year-old tabby cat with a heart full of love. Adjusting to life at the shelter has been challenging for him—busy environments can be overwhelming, especially when a cat’s past is unknown. But behind his shy demeanor lies a sweet and affectionate soul waiting to shine. Riley has a special way of showing gratitude to those he trusts: chin scritches and head pets are his love language. He’s most comfortable with his trusted circle of humans, and earning his trust comes with a delightful secret—Riley has a soft spot for meat tubes. These tasty treats are his ultimate weakness and offering them is a way to win his heart. Once you’re in his circle, he’ll reward you with all the purrs and affection you could hope for. Riley is FIV+. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a virus that affects cats. It attacks the immune system, making the cat more vulnerable to other infections. There's no cure for FIV, but with proper care, FIV+ cats can live long, healthy lives. Keeping them indoors with good nutrition and consistent preventive health care is a must. Consult your veterinarian for more information about caring for a FIV+ cat and other resident cats. Please note, we do NOT allow declawing of any cat or kitten that we adopt out, unless deemed medically necessary.  We will gladly provide you with alternative methods of managing cats with claws. We're open from 12-4 PM every day EXCEPT Wednesday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days. Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day! ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.
