My story

Hi… I’m Finch ??I’m a 1-year-old pit bull mix, and I’ve been here for almost my entire life.I came to the shelter when I was just 3 months old. I thought I’d only stay a little while… but the months kept passing, and I kept growing, and somehow I’m still here.My story gets rewritten all the time.“Finch is hoping to go home this summer.”“Finch is ready for fall adventures.”“Finch wants a family for the holidays.”And now… here we are again.But this time, something is different.I’ve been working really hard. I’ve started learning how to walk on a special training leash, and it’s helped me so much. I’m less jumpy, more focused, and finally starting to understand how to move through the world a little calmer. I’m trying. I really am.I’m still a high-energy girl, and I’ll need an experienced owner who understands dogs like me and can continue my training. I’m big, I’m strong, and I’m still learning — so I can’t go to a home with young kids under 12.But I’m also so, so sweet.When I trust you, I lean into you with my whole body. My tail wags so hard my whole butt wiggles. I just want someone to guide me, to show me how to be the dog I know I can be.There is hope for me. I just need someone to believe in it.I’ve spent my whole life waiting for a home… and I don’t want to grow up here.Maybe this time… this is the story where someone finally chooses me.I’m ready for my real beginning ???Finch is spayed, dewormed, microchipped and is up to date with vaccines. Her adoption fee is $500.00, plus $8.50 for the dog license if you are a resident of NYC.
